Gaia-X is up and running

deltaDAO launches decentralised data exchange network for Gaia-X with Polygon, EuProGigant and European Cloud Service Providers

The Pan-European GEN-X network is owned by no one and open to everyone, entirely run and governed by Gaia-X community members dedicated to the Gaia-X Trust Framework. Early network validators are Arsys (Spain), deltaDAO (Germany), EuProGigant (Austria/Germany), Exoscale (Switzerland/Austria/Germany), Ionos (Germany), Wobcom (Germany), with more to follow.

The newest decentralised autonomous ecosystem of Gaia-X will leverage Polygon Supernets, to scale an open, secure, and compliant federated digital ecosystem and identify framework for businesses and institutions adopting and building towards Gaia-X.

Promoting adoption of the Gaia-X framework across domains

The Web3 ecosystem will contribute to the widespread adoption of the Gaia-X framework and feature a wide variety of use-cases across domains, such as manufacturing, industry 4.0, mobility, and real estate, to foster innovation in the European Digital Single Market.

Enabled by Ocean Protocol and Compute-to-Data, data can be safely processed on edge devices, on-premises or in trusted cloud environments, depending on the requirements of the data owners and data subjects, enabling data value creation without transferring sensitive and valuable data.

A transparent Web3 ecosystem governed by Gaia-X community members

The Web3 ecosystem, under governance of Gaia-X member institutions, takes a decentralised and federated approach to data management, allowing data and services to be freely and securely built, collated, shared, and monetized while operating according to common standards, policies, and rules.

It allows participants across domains and nations to establish best-practices and extended governance rules in a controlled Web3 sandbox environment. The network enables transparency, portability, data sovereignty and interoperability across data and services. The solution can be deployed on any cloud platform, on-premise or edge-infrastructure that adheres to the Gaia-X standards and Trust Framework.

A decentralized scenario of the Gaia-X compliance service with Polygon ID

deltaDAO will also build towards an identity ecosystem including a decentralised model of the Gaia-X compliance service and registry of the Gaia-X Trust Framework via Polygon ID, a self-sovereign, decentralised, and private identity framework for the next iteration of the Internet, powered by zero-knowledge (ZK) cryptography. Ethical use of technology and the ethical use of data is at the core of this joint endeavor of deltaDAO and Polygon. Both aim to give users back control over their digital identities and data and create a more sustainable global data economy. An inclusive economy that is “open for everyone, but owned by no one”.

Albert Peci, Co-Founder and Web3 Lead of deltaDAO: “We’ve designed the Web3 Gaia-X Ecosystem with Ocean Protocol and our partners to enable businesses and public institutions the secure storage, exchange and processing of their data in a decentralised and resilient way using Web3 technology. We remove single points of failure and control. By teaming up with Polygon, deltaDAO reinforces its vision of a privacy-preserving, sustainable and decentralized data economy.”

Giving users back technical control over their data is key

deltaDAO’s mission is to establish a federated system linking service providers and users together in a transparent and secure environment in line with the Gaia-X framework. It gives freedom of choice and control back to data owners and enables decentralised data monetization while staying in complete control of sensitive and valuable information.

“Giving back control to users is the key to ethical data usage and a sustainable data economy. Self-Sovereign Identities, open-source software, technical data sovereignty, the Compute-to-Data paradigm and Web3 will be centerpieces of the future European digital infrastructure. These building blocks will empower people to retain control over their own data and make a data-driven society safer, resilient, and more efficient for everybody”, says Kai Meinke, Co-Founder of deltaDAO and Lead of the Gaia-X Open-Source Software Community.
