At the beginning of March 2023, Felix Hoffmann, responsible for the cross-cutting topic “Business Model Development” in the EuProGiant project, travelled to Santiago de Querétaro, Mexico, for a scientific exchange at the 4th Conference on Production Systems and Logistics (CPSL). The four-day event focused primarily on the topics of digitalisation and data analysis in the context of industrial production and logistics.

The CPSL 2023 is one of the most important conferences in the field of production research and took place for the second time in presence after a Corona break of almost three years. The conference offered a comprehensive and varied programme with plenary presentations and subsequent discussion opportunities. More than 100 scientific papers were presented and discussed on the campus of the Tecnológico de Monterrey in the heart of Mexico.

One of these scientific papers was the concept developed by Felix Hoffmann, Tobias Koch and Markus Weber for the development of sustainable business models incorporating the principles of Gaia-X entitled “Development Of Data-based Business Models To Incentivise Sustainability in Industrial Production”. It describes the urgency for companies in the manufacturing sector to implement sustainable service offerings and shows ways to implement viable business models using the principles of Gaia-X. The focus of the presentation at the CPSL was on the activities of the working group “CO2 footprint in product creation”, which is currently being dealt with intensively in the project. The subsequent extensive exchange showed the great interest of the participants, including several points of contact with other research institutes and consortia that are also active in Gaia-X-related projects. As one of a few concepts with a direct link to Gaia-X, the paper presented by Felix Hoffmann again highlighted the pioneering role of EuProGigant.

You can access the paper “Development Of Data-based Business Models To Incentivise Sustainability in Industrial Production” in our Knowledge Hub once the publication process is completed.
