With the transition to the final phase, EuProGigant set the course for a successful conclusion at the project meeting at the beginning of 2025. Our project managers Claudia Schickling and Viktor Berchtenbreiter are now focussing on the final key tasks:
Bundling the final work packages: These include setting up a realistic test and demo environment, implementing the Gaia-X standard, the interaction of the developed services, the CO₂ prediction of a plastic component in different production scenarios and ensuring interoperability and portability between different data spaces and ecosystems.
Knowledge transfer through publications: The knowledge gained in the project is continuously published in order to have an impact beyond the project.
Practical implementation of the use cases: In addition to scientific documentation, the focus is on the implementation of specific use cases. This includes the development of a web application for CO₂ forecasting and preparations for the establishment of a federated data ecosystem.
Walter Mattauch, representative of the project sponsor from the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection, emphasised the expectations of a research project such as EuProGigant. In particular, he emphasised the importance of strengthening industrial transfer – through concrete application examples of how cross-location value creation can succeed in practice. Only when the knowledge generated is transferred to industry can research have a lasting impact. At the same time, he recognised the broad scope of EuProGigant as a showcase project for the implementation of the Gaia-X reference framework.
Special thanks go to Michael Wesoly from Gebr. Heller Maschinenfabrik GmbH for his hospitality and the exciting tour of the factory. The insights into the training area, the strategic orientation of the company and the impressive production halls will be fondly remembered.
Many thanks to all participants and project partners – together we will bring EuProGigant to a successful conclusion!
